Latest Updates and Advice on Energy Efficiency.
In 2006, Carrier welcomed the new increase in efficiency standards, from 10 to 13 SEER, and offers the most products to meet the new efficiency requirements. Manufacturers can only produce 13 SEER units, although local dealers may continue to sell existing inventory, install and service older units.
What Homeowners Should Know
- Increased Cost Efficiency 13 SEER represents a 30 percent increase over the old standard; approximately 50% of all energy used in a home is spent on heating and cooling. Upgrading to 13 SEER will deliver about 23 percent in energy savings
- Improved Environment Conservation It's estimated that by 2030, the change to 13 SEER will save greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to removing 3 million cars from our roadways.
- Expanded Environmentally-sound Products In 2010, the industry was required to shift to an R-410A refrigerant that eliminates ozon-depleting hydroflurocarbons. Puron® the environmentally-sound R-410A product by Carrier, has been available since 1996. Carrier offers the most extensive R-410 product line in the industry.
